terms & Policies

While your dog is staying with us, he or she will come into contact with other dogs. Every effort will be made to ensure the safety of your pups by monitoring and enforcing restrictions on dogs as set forth in our procedures. Your dogs comfort and safety are our primary goals!
Dogs, at times, can present a certain level of risk.  Every dog reacts differently in different situations, and there are inherent risks involved in owning, training, and handling dogs.  There are also risks in dogs participating in daycare, boarding or training, including but not limited to: injuries to people, animals and property, and the transmission of disease. We ask you to please respect these policies, as they are put in place to protect your dog. Even if you believe your dog doesn’t need the protection of these policies, dog behavior can be unpredictable so overall compliance is important for everyones safety.

We thank you for supporting us and hope you understand that we put these policies in place for everyones well being and safety.

HEALTH & BEHAVIOR

We require that all owners and their dogs come for a “meet & greet” before any boarding or daycare reservation.

We believe in the importance of safety and happiness that your dog will experience while in our care. Should a dog not be a good fit for our home and other pups, we will offer alternate options.

Dogs may experience sore muscles, joints, and fatigue if they are not used to the high level of physical activity.

Dogs who are not well-socialized may not know how to respectfully interact with other dogs and are at higher risk of altercations with other dogs.

In the event that your dog bites another dog or any person, we may contact appropriate authorities.

We are trained to prevent and identify health issues associated with boarding and day care, however we are not veterinarians. We will not be liable for the treatment or diagnosis of any preexisting injury or health condition when a dog enters our home, or contracts while staying with us, nor will we be liable of any preexisting condition that worsens during their stay.

All dogs must have current vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza Virus (both H3N8 and H3N2).  In most cases we honor your veterinarian’s vaccination protocol. We also require that all dogs are on monthly flea, tick and heartworm preventative.

If your dog has been treated for a contagious illness, we cannot accept your dog for at least two (2) weeks after treatment has been completed and a statement of health is obtained from a licensed veterinarian.

If at any time your dog is found to have fleas or ticks, we may provide the appropriate flea or tick removal treatment and you authorize us to provide such service at your additional expense.

If your dog requires medical attention, our first choice is to take your dog to your own vet.  If this is not possible, we will make sure your dog gets the highest quality care possible in the shortest amount of time.  All medical charges that we incur are due when you pick up your dog.

We may accept certain older dogs and we may administer routine medication for chronic conditions, but we are not equipped to care for acutely sick, aggressive or biting dogs.

I understand that LUCKY STAR DOG TRAINING is not responsible or liable for any of the following: injuries (or death) to my dog caused by other dogs (including being bitten), diseases or ailments which my dog may contract from other dogs, including infections and viruses, falls, theft, collisions with vehicles, running away, natural disasters, fire, the unavailability of emergency medical care or any items necessary for the care of my dog due to circumstances beyond the control of LUCKY STAR DOG TRAINING (including food, water, medicine, and electricity), the negligence or deliberate acts of third parties, or injuries or death to my dog caused by themselves including but not limited to hanging themselves, ingesting foreign objects, chewing themselves, chewing foreign objects, or running away.

You represent that to the best of your knowledge, your pet has not been exposed to rabies, distemper, or parvovirus within 30 days prior to beginning its stay with us.

CANINE COUGH: The upper respiratory condition known as “canine cough” also known as the Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC), is a group of diseases that affects the respiratory tract and whose most common symptom is a cough. These diseases may include other symptoms as well, such as nasal or ocular discharge, decrease in appetite and in energy.  The virus mutates, just as does the flu virus in humans, and the vaccination is not 100% effective against canine cough.  Canine cough is a risk associated with boarding, daycare, and anywhere dogs get together. We take the utmost precaution in creating a safe environment for our guests, and this includes minimizing the chances of them contracting Canine Cough through in-depth daily disinfection, close monitoring of dogs as well as vaccination requirements.

If your dog has been treated for a contagious illness, we cannot accept your dog for at least two (2) weeks after treatment has been completed and a statement of health is obtained from a licensed veterinarian.

We reserve the right to refuse a dog at drop-off for any reason, including without limit, if it appears to us the dog is sick, injured, in pain, or that its behavior could jeopardize the health or safety of other dogs or humans. No dog can stay with us unless the dog is healthy and we have confirmation from a licensed veterinarian that the dog has received all vaccinations required.

Should we notice a change in the health or behavior of your dog, we will do our best to notify you.  If we feel that medical attention is necessary, we will get medical attention as soon as possible.  If something is relatively minor (allergies, scratches, etc.), we will notify you upon pick-up.  We look over every single dog every day, however we cannot guarantee we will find everything.
