terms & Policies
While your dog is staying with us, he or she will come into contact with other dogs. Every effort will be made to ensure the safety of your pups by monitoring and enforcing restrictions on dogs as set forth in our procedures. Your dogs comfort and safety are our primary goals!
Dogs, at times, can present a certain level of risk. Every dog reacts differently in different situations, and there are inherent risks involved in owning, training, and handling dogs. There are also risks in dogs participating in daycare, boarding or training, including but not limited to: injuries to people, animals and property, and the transmission of disease. We ask you to please respect these policies, as they are put in place to protect your dog. Even if you believe your dog doesn’t need the protection of these policies, dog behavior can be unpredictable so overall compliance is important for everyones safety.
We thank you for supporting us and hope you understand that we put these policies in place for everyones well being and safety.
HEALTH & BEHAVIOR
We require that all owners and their dogs come for a “meet & greet” before any boarding or daycare reservation. We believe in the importance of safety and happiness that your dog will experience while in our care. Should a dog not be a good fit for our home and other pups, we will offer alternate options.
Dogs may experience sore muscles, joints, and fatigue if they are not used to the high level of physical activity.
Dogs who are not well-socialized may not know how to respectfully interact with other dogs, and are at higher risk of altercations with other dogs.
In the event that your dog bites another dog or any person, we may contact appropriate authorities.
We are trained to prevent and identify health issues associated with boarding and day care; however, we are not veterinarians. We will not be liable for the treatment or diagnosis of any preexisting injury or health condition when a dog enters our home, or contracts while staying with us. Nor will we be liable of any preexisting condition that worsens during their stay.
All dogs must have current vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza Virus (both H3N8 and H3N2). In most cases we honor your veterinarian’s vaccination protocol. We also require that all dogs are on monthly flea, tick and heartworm preventative.
If your dog requires medical attention, our first choice is to take your dog to your own vet. If this is not possible, we will make sure your dog gets the highest quality care possible in the shortest amount of time. All medical charges that we incur are due when you pick up your dog.
If at any time your dog is found to have fleas or ticks, we may provide the appropriate flea or tick removal treatment, and you authorize us to provide such service at your additional expense.
We may accept certain older dogs and we may administer routine medication for chronic conditions, but we are not equipped to care for acutely sick pets or aggressive or biting dogs.
Bordetella: The upper respiratory condition known as “canine cough” or “kennel cough” is caused by a bacteria and a virus. The virus mutates, just as does the flu virus in humans, and the vaccination is not 100% effective against canine cough. Canine cough is a risk associated with boarding, daycare, and anywhere dogs get together.
If your dog has been treated for a contagious illness, we cannot accept your dog for at least two (2) weeks after treatment has been completed and a statement of health is obtained from a licensed veterinarian.
We reserve the right to refuse a dog at drop-off for any reason, including without limit, if it appears to us the dog is sick, injured, in pain, or that its behavior could jeopardize the health or safety of other dogs or humans. No dog can stay with us unless the dog is healthy and we have confirmation from a licensed veterinarian that the dog has received all vaccinations required.
Should we notice a change in the health or behavior of your dog, we will do our best to notify you. If we feel that medical attention is necessary, we will get medical attention as soon as possible. If something is relatively minor (allergies, scratches, etc.), we will notify you upon pick-up. We look over every single dog every day; however, we cannot guarantee we will find everything.
SAFETY & ABANDONMENT PROCEDURE
Your dog must be leashed at all times upon arrival on our property.
You must provide an adult, over the age of 18, as your emergency contact. You agree that your contact shall have your full and complete authority to make any and all decisions, including those related to the health of your dog and the expenditure of funds, for or on behalf of you and your dog.
In an emergency or natural disaster, every effort will be made to contact you to retrieve your dog. You agree that LUCKY STAR, at its sole discretion, is authorized to transport, and/or to make temporary alternative arrangements to house and care for your dog until you or your contact can retrieve the dog. In-training guests may be converted to boarding services if the dog has not been picked up within the pick up day and you shall pay the expense.
We will attempt to contact you by telephone and/or in writing using the information that you have provided, advising you that if your dog is not picked up within a reasonable time period, your dog will be deemed abandoned and that we will deliver the dog to a third party adoption partner, Animal Control or other similar government agency. You understand that you may lose ownership of your dog under these circumstances. If you fail to pick-up your dog for any reason, YOU RELEASE LUCKY STAR FROM ALL FURTHER LIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR DOG.

You are responsible to provide the necessary amount of food for the duration of your dogs stay. We reserve the right to purchase, at your expense, the appropriate food for the remainder of their stay.
If you do not pay your bill in full, LUCKY STAR is required to return your dog to you at the time of check-out. You understand, however, that you will remain liable for all charges incurred during your dog’s stay, and LUCKY STAR reserves the right to collect any unpaid balance.
If you or your authorized contact do not pick up your dog at the agreed upon time, we will continue to provide the services as set forth in this agreement at your expense. If LUCKY STAR determines, at its sole discretion, that an extension of services is required, payment in full may be required prior to extending such services.
